Owers returns to CoStar in Atlanta

Paul Owers

Real estate news service CoStar Group has hired Paul Owers to cover residential real estate in Atlanta.

He has been working in communications at Florida Power & Light.

Owers left CoStar in 2020 for a job at Florida Atlantic University. He worked on the news desk and embedded with the College of Business. Owers had been at CoStar since October 2017.

He previously spent 12 years as a business reporter at The Sun-Sentinel in Fort Lauderdale, where he covered the housing market from the end of the boom in 2005, through the nation’s foreclosure crisis and into a new era of prosperity.

Before that, he worked at The Palm Beach Post covering retail, tourism and commercial real estate.

Chris Roush was the dean of the School of Communications at Quinnipiac University in Hamden, Connecticut. He was previously Walter E. Hussman Sr. Distinguished Professor in business journalism at UNC-Chapel Hill. He is a former business journalist for Bloomberg News, Businessweek, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, The Tampa Tribune and the Sarasota Herald-Tribune. He is the author of the leading business reporting textbook "Show me the Money: Writing Business and Economics Stories for Mass Communication" and "Thinking Things Over," a biography of former Wall Street Journal editor Vermont Royster.
