Joseph Garcia, who has been writing about the intersection between business and politics, is leaving the paper and starting a newsletter.
His newsletter will be called “Seeking Rents,” and will involve digging even deeper into things like corporate taxes and public corruption in Florida.
Garcia previously covered Walt Disney Co., Universal Parks & Resorts and SeaWorld Entertainment Inc., and state government for the Sentinel. In 2020, he won a National Headliner Award for “Big Profits, Tiny Taxes,” a six-part series examining how multinational corporations avoid Florida taxes.
Garcia also worked five years for Florida Trend magazine.
He is a University of Maryland graduate.
