Orlando Biz Journal names Bilbao its editor

Richard Bilbao

Richard Bilbao has been named the next editor in chief of the Orlando Business Journal.

Steven Ryzewski of the Business Journal writes, “The Pembroke Pines native began his career with OBJ 16 years ago as an intern, while still a student at the University of Central Florida, after which he joined the team fully in October 2008.

“As a reporter, Bilbao’s areas of focus have included commercial real estate, technology, law and, most recently, tourism, travel, hotels, attractions and sports. His reporting for OBJ has earned recognition and awards from the Florida Press Association and the Florida Press Club.

“First promoted to senior staff writer in 2019, Bilbao was named associate managing editor in December 2023 and has now been further elevated to lead the publication’s editorial department.

“Bilbao will step into the role officially on July 1.”
