Orange County Biz Journal exec editor Murar hired by CoStar

Katie Murar

Orange County Business Journal executive editor Katie Murar has been hired by real estate news service CoStar as its West Coast regional editor.

She has been executive editor since August 2023 and previously was managing editor.

Murar also worked at real estate news service Bisnow as its West Coast editor and at the Pacific Business News in Honolulu as a reporter covering the tourism and restaurant industry.

She holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of California at Santa Cruz and a master’s degree from Northwestern University.

Chris Roush

Chris Roush was the dean of the School of Communications at Quinnipiac University in Hamden, Connecticut. He was previously Walter E. Hussman Sr. Distinguished Professor in business journalism at UNC-Chapel Hill. He is a former business journalist for Bloomberg News, Businessweek, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, The Tampa Tribune and the Sarasota Herald-Tribune. He is the author of the leading business reporting textbook "Show me the Money: Writing Business and Economics Stories for Mass Communication" and "Thinking Things Over," a biography of former Wall Street Journal editor Vermont Royster.
