The New York Times has hired Jacob Templin from the Thomson Reuters Foundation to be a senior producer.

Templin will be working closely with colleagues on the International desk.

He was the head of video at the Thomson Reuters Foundation, where he oversaw a team of video journalists covering climate, tech and economic inequality around the world. Stories include an investigation into fast-fashion supply chains in Bangladesh and the impact of data centers in drought-stricken parts of Mexico.

Prior to this, Templin was an executive producer at Quartz and senior producer and video journalist at Time. Before moving into management, he spent 10 years reporting, writing, shooting and editing stories across the United states and around the world.

He was born and raised in Toronto, and holds a Master’s in journalism from Columbia University, where he currently teaches a class on visual storytelling.
