The New York Times has hired Sri Muppidi as a reporter for its DealBook section and newsletter focused on technology and artificial intelligence.
She has been at The Information covering venture capital and startups, as well as business of the biggest AI startups — Anthropic and OpenAI
As a reporting fellow at Business Insider, Muppidi scooped Index Ventures’ layoffs and numerous funding rounds for AI startups including Abnormal Security, Kong, Chainguard and Vanta. Previously she was a Marjorie Deane fellow at The Economist, where she wrote about Scale AI and other topics.
While working on her master’s in management science and engineering at Stanford, Muppidi co-founded Wordsmith AI, a startup developing an AI writing copilot, in 2018.
She later worked as a product manager at fintech Capchase and spent four years as an investor at Emerson Collective and Sierra Ventures before realizing she would rather chase news than deals, as well as return to writing.
