Jeanna Smialek, the Federal Reserve reporter for The New York Times, has been tapped to be its new Brussels bureau chief.
She will cover the European Union, immigration, trade and security issues. Smialek will start in January.
Smialek has been with The Times since 2019. She had previously been at Bloomberg since January 2013 and previously interned for Bloomberg in 2012.
She is the author of a book about the changing role of the modern Fed called “Limitless: The Federal Reserve Takes on A New Age of Crisis.”
Smialek is a UNC-Chapel Hill graduate and holds an MBA from New York University.
