American journalist Stephen Witt is the winner of the 2025 Business Book of the Year Award for “The Thinking Machine: Jensen Huang, Nvidia, and the World’s Most Coveted Microchip,” published by The Bodley Head (UK) and Viking (US), The Financial Times and Schroders announced Wednesday.
“The Thinking Machine” is an investigation into the rise of Nvidia, the company at the heart of the artificial intelligence boom and CEO Jensen Huang.
Now in its twenty-first year, the Award recognizes a book which provides the “most compelling and enjoyable insight into modern business issues.”
It was awarded at a ceremony at InterContinental London Park Lane, hosted by the editor of the Financial Times and chair of the panel of judges Roula Khalaf, Group Chief Executive of Schroders Richard Oldfield, and Senior Managing Director for Global Business of Nikkei Daisuke Arakawa.
Witt received a prize of £30,000, with £10,000 going to each of the five runners-up.
“Stephen Witt has written a fascinating account of the making of one of the most consequential companies of our times,” said Khalaf in a statement. “In ‘The Thinking Machine,’ Witt explores brilliantly the motivation of Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang, the single-minded entrepreneur who has built one of the AI age’s most successful businesses.”
