NOTUS has hired Jeff Stein from The Washington Post to cover economic policy.
He was the Post’s chief economics correspondent.
Before that, Stein was the Post’s White House economics reporter, and also led coverage of the White House Office of Management and Budget and the Treasury Department.
Stein covered the drafting and impact of the 2017 tax law; the battle over Trump’s tax returns; and the Trump administration’s farm bailout, among other topics related to the trade war.
He was previously a reporter for Vox, where he was one of two reporters to start that publication’s Congress team. In 2014, Stein founded the Ithaca Voice, a local news non-profit.
His first job after college was as a crime reporter at the Syracuse Post-Standard, where he was awarded young journalist of the year by the New York Associated Press. Stein graduated from Cornell with a degree in history in 2013.
