NextGov, Route Fifty tap Bur as executive editor

Jessie Bur

Jessie Bur has been named executive editor of Nextgov/FCW and Route Fifty, GovExec’s news organizations covering cybersecurity, IT modernization, AI and other emerging technologies.

Bur will oversee editorial direction across Nextgov/FCW and Route Fifty, which focus on governments’ use of technology across the federal, state, and local levels.

GovExec recently merged the editorial teams of Route Fifty and Nextgov/FCW, laying off an undisclosed number of staffers. Bur previously served as managing editor of Nextgov/FCW since joining GovExec in 2022.  Prior to joining GovExec, she worked as a technology reporter for the Federal Times and MeriTalk.

“Technology is a critical topic for government leaders, how to use it, where to use it, and what new technology is in development,” said Bur in a statement. “ I’m thrilled to be taking over Nextgov/FCW and RouteFifty as we more closely align the coverage of both brands.”
