The following was sent to all Wall Street Journal staff:
Dear Colleagues,
You are no doubt aware that Wall Street Journal reporter Evan Gershkovich has been unjustly arrested in Russia. Evan is an esteemed, principled journalist and colleague, and has sought to keep the world well informed during a particularly troubled period.
We are obviously pursuing all possible avenues, public and beyond, to secure Evan’s release in coordination with the Dow Jones team, led by Emma Tucker and Almar Latour. Dow Jones and the Journal are also in close communication with Evan’s family and providing needed support.
The note below from the Journal’s Standards and Ethics editor Emma Moody provides useful background material on Evan, his important work and meaningful ways in which you can contribute. We are all committed to securing Evan’s release.
