NBC News hires Yahoo Finance’s Canal

Allie Canal joins NBC News’ Business and Economy Unit as a Reporter across broadcast, streaming and digital platforms.

Canal’s reporting focuses on the intersection of Wall Street and Main Street, translating complex developments into clear, accessible stories with real-world impact. Her coverage spans stock market moves, major company news, inflation, household spending and labor trends, with an additional focus on the business of media, streaming and entertainment.

Before joining NBC News, Canal was a Senior Reporter and On-Air Correspondent at Yahoo Finance, where she anchored and hosted programs for the outlet’s daily markets lineup, including the flagship personal finance show “Mind Your Money” and the video podcast “Stocks in Translation.” She reported live from the Nasdaq, broke major business and economic news across digital and on-air platforms, and conducted high-profile interviews with CEOs, economists and industry leaders in the media, tech, retail, entertainment and sports sectors.

She also creates digital explainers and social videos designed to reach younger and emerging audiences.

Canal is a graduate of Georgetown University and lives in New York City. She reports to Senior Business Editor Christina Wilkie and starts working today out of 30 Rock.
