National Press Foundation to fund two Wharton attendees

June 22, 2026

Posted by Chris Roush

Each year, the National Press Foundation provides funds for two journalists to attend the Wharton Seminars for Business Journalists for free.

NPF has sent more than 45 journalists to the seminars in Philadelphia over a relationship spanning two decades. The award covers registration fees, hotel and travel to Philadelphia. Shannon Najmabadi of The Washington Post and Jorja Siemons of Bloomberg Tax were the 2025 Wharton recipients.

Applicants should also submit a separate application directly with the Wharton School to be considered for the program outside of NPF’s fellowship.

The fellowship includes full tuition, housing, most meals and round-trip transportation. All U.S.-based journalists whose work represents the highest standards of business journalism are eligible to apply. The fellowship is open only to U.S.-based journalists.

The National Press Foundation awards two fellowships to the Wharton Seminars. The seminars take place Oct. 19 – 21, 2026. The application deadline is Wednesday, Sept. 2.

A short biography, a paragraph explaining why you want to attend and a supervisor’s letter of support should be saved as a Word doc or pdf BEFORE beginning the online application form. You will not be able to save and return to the application later.
