Dean Murphy of The New York Times has received the President’s Award at the Society for Advancing Business Editing and Writing annual conference in Chicago.
The President’s Award is given by the current SABEW president at their discretion.
Murphy has been a SABEW board member. He is currently the associate managing editor for investigations at the Times.
His career, which has spanned three decades and three continents, includes assignments as a war correspondent in Europe and Africa, as a political reporter in California and New York, as an editor overseeing business news, national news and investigations, and as the author of a book about the terror attacks of Sept. 11, 2001.
