Morning Brew hires Ortiz as health care editor

Nicole Ortiz

Morning Brew has hired Nicole Ortiz to be an editor for its Healthcare Brew newsletter.

She has been a part-time copy editor for Axios for the past year and also has done some editing for The Marshall Project and The Emancipator.

She previously was a senior story editor for Adweek magazine, managing its edit hub through which all digital content flows. Ortiz also helped lead newsroom initiatives on diversity and inclusion, style guide decisions and SEO. She is the former community editor where she built Adweek’s Voice column, an opinion channel comprised of guest contributions.

Ortiz previously served as the managing editor for Best Lawyers magazine.

She is a graduate of Binghamton University.

Chris Roush

Chris Roush was the dean of the School of Communications at Quinnipiac University in Hamden, Connecticut. He was previously Walter E. Hussman Sr. Distinguished Professor in business journalism at UNC-Chapel Hill. He is a former business journalist for Bloomberg News, Businessweek, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, The Tampa Tribune and the Sarasota Herald-Tribune. He is the author of the leading business reporting textbook "Show me the Money: Writing Business and Economics Stories for Mass Communication" and "Thinking Things Over," a biography of former Wall Street Journal editor Vermont Royster.
