Montgomery Advertiser hires Clifton as biz reporter

Sarah Clifton

Sarah Clifton has joined the Montgomery Advertiser as a business reporter.

Victor Hagan of The Advertiser writes, “Clifton is a two-time graduate of the University of Alabama, receiving her bachelor’s in English and news media in May 2023 and her master’s in English the following year. At UA, she was an award-winning news reporter and later an assistant copy editor for the student media newspaper, The Crimson White. She also worked on a project documenting gun violence victims in Tuskegee and served as a mentor for young writers.

“A lifelong passion for writing set her on the path to journalism. ‘All I knew is that I wanted to write,’ Clifton said. She came to love the news gathering process and decided to pursue the field.

“Clifton will take on stories ranging from new restaurants to industry changes across Alabama. She said she’s especially interested in small businesses and telling their stories. She joined the Advertiser on Aug. 19.”
