Modern Retail hires Parton as a reporter

Mitchell Parton

Mitchell Parton has joined Modern Retail to cover the industry’s transformation.

He previously covered real estate for the Dallas Business Journal. He also had been a residential real estate reporter at the Dallas Morning News.

Parton had covered the commercial real estate beat in San Antonio, writing for the San Antonio Business Journal. He covered major corporate real estate deals in the San Antonio area and broken stories about property sales and growth in that metro area.

Parton is a graduate of the University of Cincinnati. While in school, he worked at the student newspaper.

Chris Roush

Chris Roush was the dean of the School of Communications at Quinnipiac University in Hamden, Connecticut. He was previously Walter E. Hussman Sr. Distinguished Professor in business journalism at UNC-Chapel Hill. He is a former business journalist for Bloomberg News, Businessweek, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, The Tampa Tribune and the Sarasota Herald-Tribune. He is the author of the leading business reporting textbook "Show me the Money: Writing Business and Economics Stories for Mass Communication" and "Thinking Things Over," a biography of former Wall Street Journal editor Vermont Royster.
