Modern Healthcare deputy editor Stein among the layoffs

Modern Healthcare deputy editor Michelle Stein was among the layoffs at Crain last week.

She joined the publication in January 2024.

She previously was at Inside Health Policy as assistant publisher. Stein also was a reporter covering Medicare and Medicaid policies, as well as health care legislation and health care reform for Inside CMS and Inside Health Policy.

Stein holds a bachelor’s degree from Washington University in St. Louis and a master’s degree from Northwestern University.

Hussman Sr. Distinguished Professor in business journalism at UNC-Chapel Hill. He is a former business journalist for Bloomberg News, Businessweek, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, The Tampa Tribune and the Sarasota Herald-Tribune. He is the author of the leading business reporting textbook "Show me the Money: Writing Business and Economics Stories for Mass Communication" and "Thinking Things Over," a biography of former Wall Street Journal editor Vermont Royster.
