MIT Tech’s Arieff joins SF Chronicle

Allison Arieff has been hired by the San Francisco Chronicle as an editorial writer and columnist.

Matthew Fleischer of the Chronicle writes, “A longtime San Francisco resident, Arieff comes to the Chronicle from MIT Technology Reviewwhere she was the editorial director of print. She was previously editorial director of the Bay Area urban planning and policy think tank, SPUR, and was a regular columnist for the New York Times Opinion section from 2007-2020, focusing on cities, design and technology. She was also the editor in chief of the design and architecture magazine Dwell, which won the National Magazine Award for General Excellence during her tenure. She is the author of several books including ‘Prefab,’ and has contributed to numerous others including ‘The Future of Public Space’ and ‘Cars: Accelerating the Modern World.’

“Arieff has spent her career writing about how design impacts daily lives, and she’ll continue to do so for the Chronicle, with a particular focus on infrastructure, public space, transit and institutions.”
