Wired executive editor Brian Barrett sent out the following to the staff on Thursday:
Hi all, I’m extraordinarily happy to share that we’ve hired a senior editor for the business desk, who will work closely with Natasha and our US-based reporters. Louise Matsakis is returning to WIRED, and she’ll be starting November 11.
Many of you have worked with Louise before at WIRED, or been edited by her at other publications. In my experience, she has an innate understanding of what a WIRED story is, and more importantly has a body of work as a reporter and editor that embodies what WIRED strives to be: smart, newsy, scoop-driven
, voicey, global, and fun. Before her current impressive freelance run—with stories at the Atlantic, NBC News, and us, among others—Louise has been an impactful editor at Semafor and Rest of World. I can’t wait to see the kind of mark she makes on WIRED this time around.
