Mandaro named ME at The Information

Laura Mandaro

The Information founder Jessica Lessin and executive editor Amir Efrati sent this note to its staff on Thursday.

Team,

We are thrilled to share that Laura Mandaro has been named Managing Editor, News and Talent for The Information.

We think Laura is the ideal colleague to both deepen our news coverage and to guide our incredible reporting and editing talent to greater heights. In this role, she will continue to lead her current teams (with support from a new editor) and take on responsibility for growing, training and mentoring our already phenomenal newsroom, making sure everyone on the team from San Francisco to New York and beyond is achieving his or her goals.

Those who work with her directly know what an exceptional leader she is and we are now excited for everyone in editorial to have access to her expertise, mentorship and more. Laura will have more to share about her plans for new resources and more in the coming weeks.

Over the last two years, Laura has been leading our news coverage in so many ways and as her team grows we look forward to her continuing to share her expertise to shape coverage of the private technology industry and more. As founding editor of the Creator Economy newsletter, she has successfully guided a team to establish the newsletter, database and events as a key franchise.

She is a wonderful leader of our weekly “sked” ensuring we’re thinking through what we run when and why. Laura has also spearheaded our editorial fellowship, which has also expanded our newsroom with wonderful talent.

To get mushy for a second, there are many amazing things about starting a company. There are also many challenging ones. But hands down, one of the best is working with amazing people, learning from them and watching them grow. We are so grateful to Laura and her passion for what we do.

Congratulations Laura!

Jessica and Amir
