Barry Malone, deputy editor in chief of the Thomson Reuters Foundation, is leaving and relaunching his Proximities newsletter.
He has been with the Foundation since February 2022.
Born in Ireland, he has lived in and reported from Ethiopia, Uganda, Kenya, Tunisia, Libya, Iraq, Qatar and the US.
Before joining the Thomson Reuters Foundation for Context, Malone was a Reuters correspondent, acting managing editor of Al Jazeera Digital and executive producer of “The Stream,” Al Jazeera’s flagship live talk show. He has also worked for Amnesty International and the United Nations.
He holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of West London.
