Vinny Del Giudice has retired from Bloomberg News after 34 years with the organization.
Del Giudice was a reporter for Bloomberg Radio. Prior to joining the Radio team, he covered the U.S. Treasury beat from 1990 to 2012.
Del Giudice began his career in journalism in 1977 as a stringer for United Press International in Ohio and earned a full-time position at UPI in Washington D.C. in 1982. He also worked as a special writer for the Dayton Daily News in Dayton, Ohio.
Del Giudice holds a B.A. in sociology from Wittenberg University in Springfield, Ohio, and an M.A. in journalism from the Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio.
He wrote the following on LinkedIn:
As I was raised in North Jersey, one of the greatest achievements of my colorful 34-year career at Bloomberg was never, ever dropping an “F-bomb” on the air – though I did sneeze once during a live broadcast.
On June 4, 2025, I rode into the Colorado sunset after latching onto the bucking Bloomberg News bronco in Washington, DC from the onset in 1990.
Though often bruising, like the rodeo ring, I shall miss it.
I am 67 now and grateful. Grateful to my bosses from Mike Bloomberg and Matt Winkler on. Grateful to my colleagues in the Denver bureau and beyond. Grateful to my readers and listeners – even the ones who kvetched about my reporting.
And grateful, of course, to the “Treasury Duck.”
I encourage the next generation of Bloomberg journalists to “Give it your 100%.” Stick with it. Learn from mistakes. Create. Think for yourself. Ignore the crowd. Be yourself – always.
Opportunity presents itself when least expected.
To everyone: Be grateful for America’s amazing free press.
Defend it!
Journalists – despite what you’ve heard – are “friends of the people!”
Thank you, Vinny
PS: Thank you to my colleagues at UPI Washington for helping me learn my trade from 1982-1990.
