Lerner swaps the Intercept for ProPublica

Sharon Lerner

Sharon Lerner, an investigative reporter covering health, science and the environment at The Intercept, will leave to join ProPublica, where she will divide her time between the international health team and the national desk.

Lerner begins in September.

She worked for The Village Voice, the public radio show “The Infinite Mind,” and the New School, where she taught journalism. Her work has appeared in the New York Times, The Nation, and the Washington Post.

Lerner received seven awards from the Society for Environmental Journalists and five from the Newswomen’s Club of New York, which named her journalist of the year in 2021.

Lerner has an undergraduate degree from Brown University and a master’s degree from Columbia University.
