Kiplinger hires Cruz as a tax reporter

Gabriella Cruz

Gabriella Cruz has joined Kiplinger Personal Finance to cover tax.

She previously was at Yahoo Finance covering housing, taxes and credit.

Cruz had been a staff writer for Money covering personal finance and lifestyle-related topics.

She’s been a contributing writer at the Hyde Park Herald, a community newspaper based in Chicago, where she wrote about K-12 education, business, and politics.

During her time there, she was awarded the Tribune McCormick Diversity Writer’s scholarship and graduated from Columbia College Chicago with a master’s degree in public affairs journalism in 2018.

Chris Roush was the dean of the School of Communications at Quinnipiac University in Hamden, Connecticut. He was previously Walter E. Hussman Sr. Distinguished Professor in business journalism at UNC-Chapel Hill. He is a former business journalist for Bloomberg News, Businessweek, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, The Tampa Tribune and the Sarasota Herald-Tribune. He is the author of the leading business reporting textbook "Show me the Money: Writing Business and Economics Stories for Mass Communication" and "Thinking Things Over," a biography of former Wall Street Journal editor Vermont Royster.
