KFF Health News is promoting managing editor Alex Wayne to executive editor, replacing the retiring Damon Darlin.
It had hired Wayne from last year to be managing editor for health policy and politics.
Wayne has been at Bloomberg since April 2010, originally as a national health care reporter covering the implementation of the Affordable Care Act.
He was also a White House editor and White House team leader.
Wayne previously worked at Congressional Quarterly and at the Greensboro News & Record.
