
David Katzmaier has been named editor in chief of CNET.
He replaces Adam Auriemma, who left in August.
“In more than 20 years here I’ve written thousands of reviews and articles, hosted countless videos and now I have the privilege of leading the best team of tech reporters on the planet,” he wrote on LinkedIn. “I’m also sharing the latest thing I wrote. It’s about the history of CES, where CNET in once again presenting the Best of CES 2026 awards here Vegas. I’m so excited to help take this storied brand into the future.”
Katzmaier previously was senior editorial director and senior managing editor. He has been with the tech news site since October 2002.
He is a graduate of New York University.
