Alex Janin is now covering he pharmaceuticals beat for The Wall Street Journal.
She previously covered health and wellness for the Journal, writing about obesity drugs, longevity, medical testing and emerging treatments.
Janin reported on the business and science of healthcare, including the rise of GLP-1 drugs, experimental medicines and new approaches to diagnosing and treating disease. Her work has also examined how companies, regulators and patients navigate a rapidly changing health care system.
Before joining The Journal as a reporter in 2019, she worked for Al Jazeera, Los Angeles Magazine and NowThis News. She is a graduate of the University of Southern California’s Annenberg School for Communication and Journalism and was a 2024 fellow in the Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts Foundation’s Health Coverage Fellowship.
In 2025, she was one of nine journalists awarded the Knight-Bagehot Fellowship in Economics and Business Journalism at Columbia University.
