Houston energy reporter Drane moves to investigations team

Houston Chronicle energy industry reporter Amanda Drane has moved to the investigations team from the business desk.

Drane joined the Chronicle in 2020 from The Berkshire Eagle.

Previously, Drane was working as a reporter for the Daily Hampshire Gazette. She also served as a staff writer at The Valley Advocate and as a freelance writer, photographer for The Republican.

Drane has also held the posts of feature writer and reporter at UMass Research Next and Northampton Media, respectively. She was also a student writer for MassLive.com.

Drane holds a bachelor’s degree in journalism from University of Massachusetts.

Chris Roush

Chris Roush was the dean of the School of Communications at Quinnipiac University in Hamden, Connecticut. He was previously Walter E. Hussman Sr. Distinguished Professor in business journalism at UNC-Chapel Hill. He is a former business journalist for Bloomberg News, Businessweek, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, The Tampa Tribune and the Sarasota Herald-Tribune. He is the author of the leading business reporting textbook "Show me the Money: Writing Business and Economics Stories for Mass Communication" and "Thinking Things Over," a biography of former Wall Street Journal editor Vermont Royster.
