Hollywood Reporter hires Cartwright as special correspondent

The Hollywood Reporter has hired The Daily Beast editor at large Lachlan Cartwright to cover the intersection of media, entertainment and politics and launch a new newsletter.

Cartwright will start his new job on Jan. 29. He has been at The Daily Beast for six years.

Previously, Cartwright was an executive editor at the National Enquirer and Radar Online. Before that, he was a column editor and reporter at the New York Daily News. He has also reported for the New York Post.

He was also a reporter and news editor at The Sun.

Chris Roush was the dean of the School of Communications at Quinnipiac University in Hamden, Connecticut. He was previously Walter E. Hussman Sr. Distinguished Professor in business journalism at UNC-Chapel Hill. He is a former business journalist for Bloomberg News, Businessweek, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, The Tampa Tribune and the Sarasota Herald-Tribune. He is the author of the leading business reporting textbook "Show me the Money: Writing Business and Economics Stories for Mass Communication" and "Thinking Things Over," a biography of former Wall Street Journal editor Vermont Royster.
