Mike Hofman

Stephanie Mehta, the CEO and chief content officer of Mansueto Ventures, the parent of Inc. and Fast Company, sent out the following on Friday:

I’m delighted to announce that Mike Hofman is the new Editor in Chief of Inc. This is something of a homecoming for Mike, who started his journalism career at Inc. in 1996, rising to editor, Inc.com, before moving to a series of digital leadership roles at Glamour and GQ. He returned to Mansueto Ventures in October 2021 as executive editor and head of digital at Fast Company, where he deftly reorganized the newsroom and expanded the title’s mix of stories while maintaining its emphasis on innovation.

Mike has a clear editorial vision for Inc. that includes practical, modern service journalism for founders and business owners; relevant, quick-turn business and economic news; and what he calls “affecting, complicated stories” of entrepreneurs and their journeys. His passion for ambitious journalism is infectious, and he’s proven to be a generous colleague and natural collaborator with colleagues across the company.

I’ve had the pleasure of working side-by-side with Mike and greatly admire his wit, intelligence, and his deep commitment to inclusivity in our journalism and our workplace, where he has led the creation and expansion of Mansueto Ventures’s growing employee resource group (ERG) program. Mike’s dedication to inclusion extends to his nonprofit work: As a past chair of The Anti-Violence Project, which supports LGBTQ and HIV-affected communities and allies, Mike recruited and expanded the board, and under his leadership it grew to include seven women, seven people of color, and three transgender directors.

I’d like to thank Diana Ransom, Janice Lombardo, Richard Baker, and Laura Lorber for energetically leading Inc. while we’ve conducted this search. And I’m grateful to the staff of Inc. for its patience and continued focus during the search process.

Mike will be representing Inc. at Founders House at SXSW in a few weeks, but he officially begins his duties on March 27.

Please join me in congratulating Mike on his new role.

Stephanie
