Here are The Wall Street Journal journalists whose jobs were eliminated on Tuesday:
Reporters:
Asa Fitch — a reporter covering the semiconductor companies, including Intel, Nvidia and Qualcomm. Prior to his move to California, he spent a decade as a foreign correspondent in the Middle East.
Aaron Tilley — a reporter covering all things Apple. He previously served as the Microsoft and enterprise technology reporter at the Journal.
Alexa Corse — a reporter covering the technology industry, with a particular focus on the areas of social media and artificial intelligence. She is especially interested in stories about the people who shape business decisions in Silicon Valley and about consumers who use tech products.
Miles Kruppa — a reporter focused on Google and Alphabet. Previously, he wrote about venture capital and startups for the Financial Times. He has been with The Journal since June 2022.
Tom Dotan — a reporter covering Microsoft, Salesforce and other enterprise and business tech companies. He previously worked at Business Insider and The Information.
Sarah Needleman — a reporter on the videogame industry and social media for the WSJ, with a focus on Take-Two, Electronic Arts, Roblox, Activision Blizzard, Epic, Microsoft’s Xbox biz, Sony’s PlayStation biz, Reddit, Discord and Pinterest. She has been with the Journal since 2001.
Editors:
Liz Wollman — an editor at The Journal since 2019. She previously worked at Bloomberg where she headed its West Coast legal team, running a team of reporters and stringers covering everything from immigration policy to the courtroom battle between Uber and Google and the Apple-Qualcomm feud.
Tom Gryta — an editor focused on semiconductors, video games and tech in general. He previously covered various sectors as a reporter, including General Electric/industrials, telecom and health care. His coverage spans how companies navigate the changing economy and society along with financial and operational challenges.
Ben Fritz — artificial intelligence editor, overseeing The Journal’s coverage of the AI industry, including OpenAI, Google, and Microsoft. He also worked at Variety and the Los Angeles Times.
Eric Bellman — a tech editor in the San Francisco bureau, managing coverage of e-commerce, the gig economy and defense technology. He edits one of the most-read weekly newsletters on tech and has also handled enterprise, AI and gaming coverage. He has been at the Journal for more than 14 years.
Jason Dean — the global tech editor, based in San Francisco. He has been with the Journal for 24 years and previously was Chicago bureau chief and China news editor. He is a graduate of Harvard University and is well respected.
Two reporters were given the option of a buyout rather than being laid off. We have not included their names in this list.
