Hassan departs WSJ for NY Times

Mohamed Hassan

Mohamed Hassan, a platform editor at The Wall Street Journal, has been hired as a staff editor at The New York Times.

He curated the home pages at The Journal, where he also wrote alerts, collaborated with visual editors and contributed to workflow improvements.

Before that he was a home page editor at The New York Post, where he developed a skill for writing pun-filled headlines. He started his career as a freelance reporter for NBC News.

Hassan is a graduate of New York University.

Chris Roush

Chris Roush was the dean of the School of Communications at Quinnipiac University in Hamden, Connecticut. He was previously Walter E. Hussman Sr. Distinguished Professor in business journalism at UNC-Chapel Hill. He is a former business journalist for Bloomberg News, Businessweek, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, The Tampa Tribune and the Sarasota Herald-Tribune. He is the author of the leading business reporting textbook "Show me the Money: Writing Business and Economics Stories for Mass Communication" and "Thinking Things Over," a biography of former Wall Street Journal editor Vermont Royster.
