Handlesblatt has hired Jakob Hanke Vela as its Brussels bureau chief.
He will start Jan. 1.
Hanke Vela is Brussels Playbook Writer for Politico. Prior to joining Politico, he was at the Axel Springer Academy in Berlin, where he worked for the dailies Die Welt and Bild and led a team of eight young journalists to attract five million readers a month to a new online magazine for young people.
Hanke Vela studied economics and philosophy at Humboldt University and was a scholar of the Studienstiftung. During his studies, he worked as a producer for the international broadcaster Deutsche Welle.
