Grist has hired Matt Simon as a senior staff writer covering solutions.
Simon previously worked at Wired, where he covered climate change, the environment, and technology for nearly 13 years. He’s the author of three books, most recently “A Poison Like No Other: How Microplastics Corrupted Our Planet and Our Bodies.” He’s reported on a broad range of topics in climate science — from the Arctic to hurricanes to the oceans — and extensively covered technologies like heat pumps, the grid, and electric vehicles.
“I’ve admired Grist’s fearless reporting for many years, so it’s an absolute pleasure and honor to join them,” said Simon. “We’re at an unprecedented inflection point in human history: The solutions we deploy over the next few years will set the groundwork for how the fight against climate change will unfold in the decades to come. There isn’t a publication out there better equipped to tell these stories than Grist.”
