Globe and Mail hires Bloomberg’s Marotta to cover banking

The (Toronto) Globe and Mail has hired Bloomberg News reporter Stefanie Marotta to cover banking.

She will start Dec. 12.

Marotta has been covering equities at Bloomberg for the past year. Before that, she was with the Financial Post covering banking and fintech.

She was previously with the Globe and Mail, where she worked as reporter for Report on Business, contributing reporter/research associate, reporter for the Alberta bureau, and reporter and investigative journalist.

She has also reported for the Toronto Star, Bloomberg and CBC. She also served as an associate news editor and reporter, news editor and then as editor-in-chief at The Medium.

Marotta graduated from the University of Toronto.

Hussman Sr. Distinguished Professor in business journalism at UNC-Chapel Hill. He is a former business journalist for Bloomberg News, Businessweek, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, The Tampa Tribune and the Sarasota Herald-Tribune. He is the author of the leading business reporting textbook "Show me the Money: Writing Business and Economics Stories for Mass Communication" and "Thinking Things Over," a biography of former Wall Street Journal editor Vermont Royster.
