Gizmodo EIC Ackerman leaving for new editor in chief role

Dan Ackerman

Gizmodo editor in chief Dan Ackerman is leaving the tech news site to become editor in chief of another tech publication later this year.

He had become Gizmodo editor in chief in June.

“The Gizmodo team is amazing, and it’s been a privilege to work with them,” wrote Ackerman on LinkedIn. “I’m especially proud of our work over the past several months building out coverage of AI topics and expanding our product reviews section.”

Ackerman came to Gizmodo from consumer technology publication CNET, where he most recently served as editorial director, overseeing coverage of key tech topics including computers, gaming and virtual/augmented reality. There, he led a team producing highly-cited news and reviews and multi-platform video and social media content.

A frequent guest on television, radio and podcasts, Ackerman has long been a consumer technology expert for CBS Mornings and other programs, and is the author of the award-winning, New York Times-reviewed nonfiction book “The Tetris Effect.”
