Fundfire’s Mitchell switches to private equity beat

Fundfire senior reporter Justin Mitchell is switching beats to cover private equity, private credit and venture capital with a focus on the middle market.

He previously was covering pensions for the Financial Times publication.

Before joining Fundfire, he was a reporter for PE Hub and Buyouts covering family offices.

He also spent five years as a reporter and producer for Reuters Television in Washington. Mitchell was also a news assistant at WTOP in Washington.

Mitchell holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Northern Colorado and a master’s degree from the CUNY Graduate School of Journalism.

Chris Roush was the dean of the School of Communications at Quinnipiac University in Hamden, Connecticut. He was previously Walter E. Hussman Sr. Distinguished Professor in business journalism at UNC-Chapel Hill. He is a former business journalist for Bloomberg News, Businessweek, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, The Tampa Tribune and the Sarasota Herald-Tribune. He is the author of the leading business reporting textbook "Show me the Money: Writing Business and Economics Stories for Mass Communication" and "Thinking Things Over," a biography of former Wall Street Journal editor Vermont Royster.
