The Financial Times has made a number of hires from The Wall Street Journal, reports Lachlan Cartwright of Breaker.

Cartwright reports, “More movements than the early settlers at the Financial Times, where Breaker has learned about a raft of changes. Global Media Editor Dan Thomas is moving to become national resources editor. Tech Editor and former Sport Editor, Murad Ahmed, will become the new Global Media Editor.  U.S. News editor, Derek Bower, has been appointed Washington bureau chief. Bower, who has a PHD in Russian literature, has one key political contact in his Rolodex, having played hockey with Canadian PM Mark Carney when they both studied at Oxford.

“Bower is being replaced in New York by Adam Samson, who becomes U.S. News editor. While the poaching is usually from Wall Street Journal EIC and former FT employee Emma Tucker, the FT has managed to reverse the trend, bringing aboard the WSJ’s Peter Stiff as deputy, UK companies editor.”
