FT adds China section to website

The Financial Times has launched China Focus, a section on FT.com that will carry news, analysis and opinion written by FT correspondents in Beijing, Shanghai, Shenzhen, Hong Kong and Taipei.

The Regional Data Explorer, a new interactive graphic, allows readers to explore economic data, including the GDP of some of China’s provinces, providing a granular focus on the economic performance of the country.

China Focus has been created in response to growing audience demand for news on China. In the first half of 2023, traffic to China-related stories on FT.com rose by 26% compared to the same period last year.

“We want this section to become an essential tool for our readers, helping them to navigate the ‘need to know’ stories with the biggest impact on the news agenda,” said Asia editor Robin Harding in a statement. “What happens in China affects every corner of global business and it’s crucially important to our readers.”
