Fortune promotes Lev-Ram to editor at large

Michal Lev-Ram

Fortune chief operating officer Lisa Cline sent out the following on Friday:

All,

I’m very happy to announce that Michal Lev-Ram has been promoted to Editor-at-Large at Fortune, reporting to me. She will also retain her responsibilities as Editorial Director for Live Media. In her new role, Michal will be able to focus even more squarely on Fortune’s growing conference and live events business. But she’ll keep her editorial hat on, too, and continue writing the illuminating Fortune features for which she’s known—such as her recent cover story on Katie Haun (“Crypto’s New Kingmaker”).

In the fourteen months since she was named Editorial Director of FLM, Michal has shown remarkable leadership in keeping the Most Powerful Women and Brainstorm Tech communities together through a period of change in leadership and global upheaval, and in returning MPW Next Gen to the in-person celebration of the future of business leadership it’s known for being. In her new role, Michal will continue to focus her energy on our MPW and Tech franchises, but will also increasingly support FLM’s efforts across all live events. As Editor-at-Large, she will also lead the charge for further synergy across the conference and editorial teams. In order to do so, Michal will be hiring a full-time team member who will focus on our conference business from the editorial side, taking on co-chair positions for a number of our franchises, including Brainstorm Health, and the all-new Impact Initiative this fall.

Many of you already know Michal to be a first-rate collaborator and champion of the many conferences on which she’s worked. She is also a standout journalist known for her deep-dive stories on the technology and entertainment industries, like her stellar profile of Salesforce founder Marc Benioff in last year’s Fortune 500 package. Prior to joining Fortune in 2010, Michal was a staff writer at Business 2.0, a former Time Inc. publication that covered startups. She has also written articles for CNNMoney, Fast Company, and Popular Science (and for Fortune the first time around from 2007-2008). Born in Israel and based in Silicon Valley, Michal holds a degree in journalism from San Francisco State University and speaks Hebrew, French and some Arabic, too.

Please join me in congratulating Michal on this well-deserved promotion, and in celebrating this exciting next step for Fortune’s conference business!
