Fortune has hired longtime business journalist Jim Edwards to be is global news director.
He will start on Monday.
“He’s going to elevate our digital reporting across our key business areas including tech, leadership, markets and finance, creating 24/7 coverage across Europe, us and Asia,” said Fortune editor in chief Alyson Shontell.
Edwards has been editorial director for DLNews, a new cryptocurrency news service. He previously was the founding editor of Business Insider UK. Edwards joined Business Insider in November 2011 as a senior editor in New York. He moved to London in June 2014 to launch the UK edition. In September 2017, he become editor in chief of Business Insider UK and International.
Edwards previously was a columnist for CBS Interactive, and managing editor and senior editor for Adweek. He was also a senior writer for the New Jersey Law Journal and a senior writer for Brill’s Content.
He won the Neal award for business journalism in 2005 for investigating bribery in the advertising sector.
