Forbes senior editor Giles is departing

Martin Giles

Martin Giles, a senior editor at Forbes covering the CIO community, is leaving the news organization.

His last day is Friday. He has been at Forbes for three years.

“I’m going to be taking some time off over the summer to visit friends and family in Europe and then look forward to deciding what the next big adventure’s going to be,” he wrote on Twitter.

Giles previously was the San Francisco bureau chief of the MIT Technology Review.

Giles spent most of his career at The Economist, which he joined as a finance correspondent in 1988. He then moved to Paris as the newspaper’s European business correspondent, before returning to London as finance editor.

Giles subsequently spent several years on the business side of The Economist Group, including as managing director of the group’s U.S. operations. During this time he earned an executive MBA from The University of Chicago’s Booth Graduate School of Business.

In 2008 he returned to the editorial staff of The Economist, becoming the newspaper’s management correspondent in New York. From 2009 to 2015, he had been the U.S. technology correspondent in San Francisco.
