
Ian Fisher, who was on the Weekends editing staff at Bloomberg News, was among the layoffs on Tuesday.
Fisher has been with Bloomberg since November 2018.
He previously spent 27 years at The New York Times, including time as Rome bureau chief, Jerusalem bureau chief, Iraq correspondent and head of digital.
Fisher joined The Times as a clerk in 1990. He was promoted to metropolitan reporter, and covered the Bronx and Albany, before heading to Bosnia as a correspondent in 1995. In 1998, he was named East Africa bureau chief.
Fisher holds a bachelor’s degree from Boston University.
