Bloomberg News reporter Craig Torres, who covers the Federal Reserve, is leaving the news organization after 23 years for another opportunity.

On LinkedIn, he wrote:

My work with some Bloomberg colleagues won the Polk Award for National Reporting and the Sidney Hillman prize. We sued the Fed for transparency on emergency facility rescues and discount window borrowings and pried open bailout secrecy.

The reporters asked the right questions, but it took newsroom leadership – from our editor-in-chief, to our newsroom counsel, and the smartest editors and data reporters – to bring this project home. Our journalism contributed to the congressional decision to make discount window and Fed emergency facility borrowings public by law.

My accountability posture toward public agencies paid dividends. I broke the story along with Pro Publica on a leak of confidential information out of the FOMC, a story about a Fed president’s trading during the pandemic, and many more.

Torres previously spent more than a decade at The Wall Street Journal. He is a graduate of Harvard University.
