
Matthew Heimer, the executive editor of features at Fortune, has left to enter graduate school to work on a Master’s in Social Work.
He previously was senior features editor and features editor at Fortune, where he has worked since 2017.
Prior to his appointment at Fortune, Heimer was a senior editor at MarketWatch, where he edited long-form features and multimedia projects and helped launch and oversee the website’s revamped retirement and personal-finance coverage.
Before that, Heimer worked as a reporter, senior writer and deputy editor at SmartMoney magazine, where he wrote and edited award-winning features and columns on topics including investing, real estate, health care and small businesses.
He holds a master’s degree in law and journalism from Yale Law School, where he was a Knight Fellow.
