Engadget EIC Wollman says goodbye

Dana Wollman

Tech news site Engadget editor in chief Dana Wollman sent out the following to her colleagues on Thursday:

Hi everyone,

As I’m sure you’ve heard by now, tomorrow is my last day, and also the last day for a good few of our Engadget teammates. More than anything, I’m sad. This scrappy, hard-working team has become my home over the past 13 years, and it is you, my colleagues, who made me want to work here week after week, year after year. And I am sad and sorry that these layoffs happened during my tenure. As your leader, I share in the responsibility. Until now, it was a point of pride that I was able to lead the team and keep it intact through tumultuous times that included several corporate owners, seven GMs and one terrible pandemic.

I am going to miss all of you. My coworkers have made me laugh every day, and you have each taught me something, whether it’s how to be a better journalist, editor, planner or teammate. It will be strange waking up on Monday and not seeing you in Slack. I do know you will be in the most trustworthy of hands with Aaron, who I will also miss working with every day. And I hope that following these cuts, as painful as they are, Engadget the brand, and the team, can long live on.
