The Detroit News has hired Summer Ballentine as an autos reporter.
Ballentine has been with the Associated Press covering Missouri politics and government. She headed AP’s national coverage of contentious measure to protect some businesses that decline services for same-sex weddings, including historic 37-hour filibuster by Senate Democrats. She has been with the AP for more than a decade.
Ballentine interned for the Philadelphia Inquirer and the Houston Chronicle.
She is a graduate of Michigan State University.
