Dallas Morning News hires David as business editor

Javier David has been hired as the business editor of the Dallas Morning News.

He replaces Paul O’Donnell, who left to become a journalism professor at Texas A&M University.

David has been business and markets managing editor at Axios. Before that, he was at Yahoo Finance, where he was an editor and editorial lead, wrote a daily newsletter, and oversaw coverage of cryptocurrencies, food and the COVID-19 pandemic.

He previously worked as a reporter for CNBC, Dow Jones, The Wall Street Journal, and Reuters.

He started his career working on Wall Street, and is a U.S. Army veteran. David holds a bachelor’s degree from Long Island University and a master’s degree from Columbia University.

Chris Roush was the dean of the School of Communications at Quinnipiac University in Hamden, Connecticut. He was previously Walter E. Hussman Sr. Distinguished Professor in business journalism at UNC-Chapel Hill. He is a former business journalist for Bloomberg News, Businessweek, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, The Tampa Tribune and the Sarasota Herald-Tribune. He is the author of the leading business reporting textbook "Show me the Money: Writing Business and Economics Stories for Mass Communication" and "Thinking Things Over," a biography of former Wall Street Journal editor Vermont Royster.
