Credit Suisse hires Breakingviews’ Cox as head of corporate comm

Credit Suisse Group has hired Reuters Breakingviews global editor Rob Cox as head of corporate communications.

He will start on April 12 and be based in Zurich.

He was a founding editor of Breakingviews, which was sold to Thomson Reuters in 2009. Previously he held various editorial roles at Bloomberg News in New York, Milan and London, and the American Banker in Chicago.

Cox was a co-founder and director of Sandy Hook Promise, a non-profit established to help his hometown community of Newtown, Connecticut to heal and address the causes of gun violence after the 2012 elementary school shooting. His writing on business, finance and gun violence has won numerous professional accolades.

He holds a Master of Science from the Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism and received his BA from the University of Vermont.

Chris Roush

Chris Roush was the dean of the School of Communications at Quinnipiac University in Hamden, Connecticut. He was previously Walter E. Hussman Sr. Distinguished Professor in business journalism at UNC-Chapel Hill. He is a former business journalist for Bloomberg News, Businessweek, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, The Tampa Tribune and the Sarasota Herald-Tribune. He is the author of the leading business reporting textbook "Show me the Money: Writing Business and Economics Stories for Mass Communication" and "Thinking Things Over," a biography of former Wall Street Journal editor Vermont Royster.
